SLEEPING GIANT AWAKES: Einherjar set to return.

After a long hiatus team Einherjar (ENR) is set to return for the International Masters tournament. The team went on break after winning Rivals, a major squad tournament, and is now back!

Many of ENR’s team members are looking for action. Team leaders Krsy and Fazu, both long standing veterans of the squad community, have decided it’s time. During their break, ENR continued to scrim and loaned some of their numbers as mercs in other teams, but that has not been enough to scratch the itch. ENR is out for blood and ready to face whoever stands in their way at the International Masters.

The team was founded in the latter half of 2024 as a combination of veteran comp players from the competitive scene’s former Titans. The introduction of the infantry combat overhaul (ICO) drove many competitive players into retirement in 2023. This left only a fraction of competitive veteran players who continued to play in the new era of Squad. In this environment, smaller teams that had less notoriety began to emerge. A new wave of squad organisations that looked to conquer the scene and prove themselves as some of the best. The old Titans such as Außer Kontrolle, Speaking in Tongues or Raven no longer existed and left behind legacies of dominance that modern teams can, at this point, only dream of. When the new teams inevitably looked to establish their own legacy, we saw some of the veterans from the former Titans band together to create a new super team. Einherjar was born.

The few veterans that had remained post-ICO had drifted from team to team, playing as mercs or sometimes as members of these teams. Einherjar founders Krsy (former Außer Kontrolle team lead), Fazu (former Raven team lead), Drizzle (former Speaking in Tongues squad leader) and Vex (former Raven and Speaking in Tongues squad leader) looked to create a new home for these players, creating a well-structured organisation with high standards, whose work ethic and commitment quickly outshined the competition. This dedication quickly netted them back-to-back tournament wins including Rivals, one of the Squad community’s major competitive tournaments which has been running for years pre-dating most newer teams such as RaT Brigade or Monkeys Want Bananas.

After their meteoric success in such a short time, Einherjar looked to take a break and became dormant. The team was looking to return for the next season of the Rivals Tournament to defend their title and once again prove their dominance. However, when the season was postponed due to commitment issues amongst Rival’s management, ENR’s return from hiatus was no longer clear. This was the case until International Masters announced a fresh season for their league format tournament. The large format ‘30 vs 30’ scale is exactly what Einherjar loves to play in and will provide an ample substitute for Rivals.

At the moment, who could be a threat to Einherjar is unclear. Some point to recent SCI winner Old Continentals as the team to challenge Einherjar’s chances of victory. That being said, the recent announcement of another season of the Squad Championship Invitational has led to potential commitment clashes that might not see the two teams face each other as they may play in different tournaments. Hopefully, this is not the case and we see Old Continentals finally clash with the giants that are Einherjar.
