SPIT’s Rumoured Return: Poppy Looks to Flip the Script on Squad’s Esport Scene

Speaking In Tongues (SPIT), one of Squad’s most legendary teams, might be whispering their way back into the competitive scene—and this time, they’re bringing more than just firepower. While the team’s rumoured return has already set the community abuzz, SPIT leader Poppy seems as focused on redeeming his own legacy as he is on reclaiming the competitive throne.

“Turning Over a New Leaf”

In a candid chat, Poppy didn’t hold back about his ambitions—or his past. With rumours of SPIT preparing a 2025 roster, the veteran leader shared his hopes for a fresh start but still denied SPIT is returning:

“It’s my hope that through that, OWI can see that I am serious about turning a new leaf, regardless of how I or anyone else actually feels about why I’m banned in the first place—which is a totally different story on its own.”

Poppy’s frankness is a refreshing change in a scene often clouded by ambiguity. His ban from official events has been a point of contention, but he’s not dwelling on the past. Instead, he’s looking to rebuild bridges.

Fixing Squad Competitive “Toxic” Reputation

Poppy wasn’t just introspective about his own role in the community—he had some sharp words for the state of the competitive Squad scene as a whole:

“I feel I have some duty to maybe help solve the drama/toxicity issue in the comp community and reset the tone… Hopefully, this time around, that can be resolved in the overall attitude of the scene.”

It’s a tall order, but if SPIT’s return sparks a cultural shift, it could mark a turning point for competitive Squad.

The Road to Redemption

Beyond the toxicity, Poppy believes OWI (Offworld Industries, Squad’s developer) wants to support the competitive community but has been hesitant due to its reputation. His goal? Prove that a healthier, more inclusive Esports scene is possible—and maybe, just maybe, convince OWI to change their stance on his ban.

What’s Next for SPIT?

While SPIT has their sights set on a second Offworld Invitational Squad Championship (OISC) title, they’re clear that this comeback is about more than just winning. Whether SPIT’s return will shake up the leaderboard, heal old wounds, or simply add fuel to the fire, one thing is certain: the 2025 season just got a whole lot more interesting.

So, will Poppy’s efforts bring harmony to Squad’s competitive chaos, or will SPIT’s return simply fan the flames? Either way, the comp scene had better buckle up. SPIT is rumoured to be back—and they’re not just here to talk.
